We’re so excited to work with you!!

Now that we’ve made all the plans for your renovation, we thought you might like to know a few next steps and frequently asked questions. As always, you can reach out to us directly via email (hello@sainhomes.com), to answer any specific questions you might have.

We paid the deposit, what’s next?

About a month or two before construction begins, we’ll begin working on your DESIGN. Sarah and her team will start shopping and sourcing all of the items needed for your remodel. She may schedule a couple in-person meetings at the tile shop and at the granite shop to hand select a few things together. Then we’ll send over a mood board and 3D drawing of your space to see how it will all look when it’s finished.

How does the payment structure work?

At various stages of your remodel (every 2 weeks or so), we’ll send an invoice once we complete milestones of your renovation. Your full payment schedule is included in your contract.

What do I need to do to prepare before our remodel?

Empty out your entire space. We’ll come in to plastic off anything necessary, but you can plan on having minimal access to the renovation space until we get closer to the end of the project.

How long does a remodel usually take?

Depending on the size and the amount of work required, a whole home renovation takes around 4-6 months to complete. A kitchen remodel usually takes between 12-16 weeks to complete. A bathroom remodel usually takes 8-10 weeks to complete. It’s always best to have multiple projects going at once in order to complete the renovation that much faster.

Can we live in our home during the remodel?

It’s always easier on everyone if the home will be vacant for the remodel. But if you are going to be living in your home during the remodel, make plans to not have access to the space being remodeled. We recommend moving to another bedroom/bathroom area during the renovation, or setting up a makeshift kitchen elsewhere. Sarah has a few tips on that for you here.

How do y’all get in and out of our house during construction?

We’ll borrow your key and have one made for us to use. We’ll place that key in a locked box on your door (like what realtors use) and give the code ONLY to our people to use during the renovation.

Can we do a custom color on our kitchen cabinets?

Yes! We often paint kitchen shaker cabinets with a high performance, lacquer style paint from Sherwin Williams. Sarah can help select the right color for your kitchen. Here’s a cabinet style, paint and color guide to help you in your decision making!

What if we decide we want to add/do more after the renovation has already begun?

If the additional project is doable, we’ll issue a Change Order for it. This just allows everyone to be on the same page in regards to the additional cost of the project and the timeline in which it will be completed.

Where do you source your design items from?

We shop a good mix of local + online. Sarah prefers to shop with you in person for tile and stone, and will occasionally take you to a lighting or plumbing shop. But most everything else can be found and ordered online.

What is the best way to reach you?

Email is always best. Both of us check the hello@sainhomes.com email account just as frequently as we do text messages. We will also send updates about your project on a regular basis so you can know what was accomplished week-to-week and what the upcoming goals are. If there is ever some type of emergency, you’re welcome to call or text us as well.

What are your work hours?

Our work hours are Monday-Thursday, 8am-6pm. We try to stay off of our phones after 6pm so email (hello@sainhomes.com) is always the best way to reach us. Our subcontractors will usually work Monday-Friday with an occasional Saturday here and there. Any questions you have about our subcontractors needs to be directed through Matt.
