How To Create A Home You Love - Bathroom Edition

The Bathroom

Like my own home, your house might need some repairs or a couple renovations left to do. But just because your home isn’t “finished” by pinterest standards doesn’t mean you can’t do some temporary things to make your home more practical and beautiful. I can PROMISE you that a clean, organized home with a few bits of pretty will make you feel so much happier with your home as it is right now.

Each month we’ll go room-by-room to talk through how to get a space deep cleaned, decluttered, and organized. Then I’ll show you some simple styling products and methods I use to make a space feel more beautiful. We’ll even include links to some of our favorite things to help you out!

The Bathroom:

The bathroom is not always an exciting place to style or clean, but it is a room in your home that gets a LOT of use. We haven’t yet tackled remodeling the bathrooms at the Sain Casa just yet (we’ve had much bigger fish to fry…), I do try to make the best of what we have currently by keeping them clean and adding in a few elements to make it look a little pretty.

Since my boys are young and we’re still a year or so away from remodeling the bathrooms entirely, we’ve let the boys decide on the decor for their bathroom. They’re only little once, so we figured “why not?” Below you’ll find two concepts for bathroom decor + organization that are beautiful for your own bathroom or for the kiddos.

Here’s how I keep our bathrooms looking nice…

Vanity:

To me, keeping a minimal amount of items on the vanity helps to make the entire bathroom feel cleaner. For the boys, they just have a soap dispenser, a miniature lamp we keep on at night, and a plant (because it’s me and I have them everywhere…ha!) We also have a little stool on the floor that Wyatt still uses when he brushes his teeth.

In our bathroom, we just have a soap dispenser, a toothbrush holder, another plant (#Obsessed) and a small brass container where I keep my skincare items. It’s pretty + minimal and I love it like that. If you have more items you need to store on the vanity top, I recommend a little tray to group a bunch of items together in a pretty way. I also love little jars for q-tips or floss on the tray. It’s one of those practical + pretty things that makes life a little better.

Inside the vanity in the boys bathroom, I keep the everyday essentials in organized drawers. I also keep a roll of Clorox wipes so I can quickly wipe down the vanity or toilet anytime I need to (because you know…#boymom).

Since we have a very small vanity in our bathroom, I love to use drawer organizers for my makeup and nighttime routine items. In my opinion, having all of this organized makes it faster and easier for getting ready for the beginning or end of the day. I also have a bin to store my hair tools and a small basket for my styling products I keep under the sink.

Tub/Shower:

The easiest way to clean the tub is simply to close the shower curtain…HA! No but seriously, a cute shower curtain does help make the room look pretty and put together. For storage, I just have shampoo/soap on a shelf + scrubbies that hang. Wyatt loves to take a bath every single morning, so he keeps a basket with holes filled with a handful of cars and bath toys.

Linen Closet:

In the boys’ bathroom, we are #blessed when it comes to storage. We have a large vanity and TWO spaces for storage including one linen closet + one linen cabinet. It makes up for the fact that my bathroom is SUPER tiny with almost no storage. So this is what I have in each linen closet and how I keep them organized.

Linen Closet -

1 bin = bonus items we’ll use soon (like toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, etc.)

1 bin = mama’s at home spa stuff (like face masks, moisturizers, nail polish, etc.)

1 basket = mom & dad’s medicine (ibuprofen, cough syrup, medications, etc.)

1 basket = boys medicine (children’s medicine and supplements)

1 basket = topical treatments (aquafor, band-aids, vaporub, etc.)

1 shelf = towels (we have about 2 bath towels per person + 3 hand towels per bathroom)

1 shelf = vaporizers + diffusers + essential oils (we use these especially when it’s allergy season or if someone has a cold)

Linen Cabinet -

1 shelf = travel size items (easy to just grab and go when packing for a trip)

1 shelf = any and all extra paper good (tissues, TP, etc)

1 shelf = extra vitamin/supplements + hair clippers

I’ve already started collecting items for when we DO remodel these bathrooms, but in the meantime, I’m grateful for how they serve our family and look a little cute while we wait.
